SCB 10X, the technology investment arm of SCBX Group, has joined the $7.5 million seed funding round for Guardrails AI, a San Francisco-based company specializing in AI assurance.
The funding round, led by Zetta Venture Partners, also saw participation from Bloomberg Beta, Pear VC, GitHub Fund, and notable AI experts Lip-Bu Tan, Ian Goodfellow, and Logan Kipatrick.
Guardrails AI aims to use the investment to expand its engineering and product teams and enhance its product offerings.
This development strengthens its position as a leading platform for enterprises and developers to create safer and more reliable AI applications.
The company offers innovative tools designed to measure, monitor, and mitigate AI risks, addressing the reliability issues of large language models (LLMs) and the risks of unintended consequences by introducing a governance layer that validates and corrects AI outputs.
Mukaya (Tai) Panich, CEO and Chief Venture and Investment Officer at SCB 10X, highlighted the transformative impact of generative AI on enterprises.
“The breakthroughs in generative AI have created an inflection point for mass enterprise adoption,” said Panich. “Guardrails AI is a game-changer with their suite of validation tools, unlocking a critical roadblock for adoption and enabling companies to customize and enforce safety and compliance standards in their AI workflows.”
Additionally, Guardrails AI recently launched Guardrails Hub, an open-source platform that allows developers to build, share, and reuse AI output validation techniques.
The Hub already features over 50 pre-built validators, including contributions from SCB 10X’s R&D team, which is developing Typhoon, a series of Thai open-source LLMs.
The involvement of SCB 10X in both the seed funding round and the development of Guardrails Hub underscores their commitment to advancing safe and trustworthy AI innovation through an open-source approach.
